Tufts is the proud recipient of a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
CTSA recipients form a national consortium of medical research institutions to improve how biomedical research is conducted. The overall goal is to streamline and facilitate discovery processes from “bench to bedside,” engage communities in clinical research efforts, and train clinical and translational researchers.
The Tufts CTSI offers a range of services and seeks to accelerate translation of laboratory research into clinical use, medical practice, and health policy by connecting researchers to resources, providing consultation, and offering education. Fostering a collaborative approach across disciplines and with community members is among the central tenets of the CTSI, with the ultimate goal of improving the health of the public.
One of the many areas of CTSA work is research participant study enrollment to engage more people in research opportunities. Researchmatch.org is a CTSA consortium effort to develop an electronic volunteer recruitment registry. Its goal is to offer individuals anywhere in the US the opportunity to securely join the registry for free and obtain information about research participation opportunities. The registry is in the final phases of development and is expected to be operational in Fall 2009.
